Airco Sandblasting offers a complete turn key process with unlimited coating and painting options available to choose from allowing the final product to meet current industry standards.  A typical coating system may include a primer, an intermediate coat, and a top coat.

Priming needs to occur immediately after metal and other surfaces have been sandblasted. Priming ensures better paint adhesion, increases paint durability and provides additional protection for the material being painted. Once water seeps through to the bare metal, oxidation will begin. Metal does not provide a solid surface for the paint to adhere to, and paint will come off in large flakes. Using a primer will provide extra insurance against such a scenario.

Painting/Protective Coating occurs after the sandblasting and priming process have been completed and depending on your needs and specifications of the item varies greatly and according to the industry. We apply both commercial and industrial coatings which are defined by its protective, rather than its aesthetic properties, although it can provide both. The most common use of industrial coatings is for corrosion control of steel structures. Other functions include intumescent coatings for fire resistance. The most common polymers used in industrial coatings are polyurethane, epoxy and moisture-cure urethane. Another highly common polymer used in industrial coating is a fluoropolymer. There are many types of commercial and industrial coatings which include but not limited to inorganic zinc, phosphate, and PVD coatings to name a few. Coatings can be applied for the purpose of erosion control also to block, brick and concrete sealing and preserving it from stains and/or water damage.
